What is Needle Minder Pin? And Needle Minder Pin’s function

A needle minder is a small magnetic device primarily used to hold needles in place ,preventing them from getting lost, during handcraft activities like sewing and embroidery.It consists of two parts: a decorative front magnet and a back magnet for securing.

Needle minders come in various materials, including plastic, metal, wood, and ceramic.

Today, i will mainly talk about the needle minder pins done by metal, materials we can use iron and zinc alloy.

Needle minder pin using way:
1. First, separate the two parts of the needle minder (usually the decorative front magnet and the back magnet used for securing).
2. Place the back magnet on the reverse side of the fabric (such as embroidery cloth or sewing fabric),
and position the front magnet on the corresponding spot on the front side of the fabric.
Use the magnetic force to make the two parts clamp the fabric, thus securing the needle minder.
3. When not using the sewing needle, simply place the needle on the front magnet. The needle will be attracted to it, preventing it from getting lost or slipping off.

Needle minder pins can be made into different shapes and sizes, and many are exquisitely designed, having a certain decorative appeal.

We can make the needle minder pins to be hard enamel and soft enamel process craft.

Needle minder pins , size normally is 1.25inch, 1.5inch, 1.75inch, 2inch. 1inch also can be done, but don’t suggest, size is small, the magnetic of fitting is not so good as the bigger magnets.

According to the principle that magnets attract each other，

if the needle minder pins’ shapes are regular, and the size is not big, we can use iron to make these pins, then put the magnet or magnet disc on the pins’ backside directly. pins and magnets can attract each other.

However, if the needle minder pins’ shapes are irregular, and even has cut out, normally we need do the pins with zinc allloy. zinc alloy and magnets can’t attract each other.

In this case, to achieve the purpose of the magnet attracting the needle minder pins, we can make a groove on the back of the pins and place a magnet there.
